Helps Your Children Feel Seen & Heard with the Right Words
STEP 1 - ASK
Ask the child that is wearing or holding the patch to point to the color and face that best reflects how they are currently feeling.
STEP 2 - VALIDATE
Validate their feeling by confirming their choice using a simple “I” statement such as: “I see that you’re feeling worried because you pointed to the orange face. Is that correct?”
STEP 3 - COMMUNICATE
Encourage them to share with you what is causing them to feel that way. If they choose not to, simply let them know that you are available to listen or talk whenever they are ready.
